Handwriting sessions are based on the Handwriting Without Tears® program. These programs are tailored to meet the specific handwriting and fine motor needs for learning printing and cursive.
Pre-K
The Pre K handwriting program develops readiness skills for printing. Your child will enjoy fine motor plays using multi-sensory activities, develop body awareness, learn grip and identify and recognize shapes, colors, letters, and numbers.
Kick Start Kindergarten
The Pre K handwriting program develops readiness skills for printing. Your child will enjoy fine motor plays using multi-sensory activities, develop body awareness, learn grip and identify and recognize shapes, colors, letters, and numbers.This program is ideal for students in transitional, kindergarten, senior kindergarten, or a 4/5 Pre-K classroom. It is an extension of the Pre-K program as it introduces students to lowercase letters with the addition of the Kick Start Kindergarten workbook.
Kindergarten
The kindergarten handwriting program teaches capital and lowercase letter and number formation. Multi-sensory play is introduced to develop good habits for printing, to eliminate reversals, and to develop letter placement and spacing skills.
1st Grade
The first grade handwriting program emphasizes printing lowercase letters correctly and using them in words and sentences to prepare students for writing in all their classes. Hands-on, fine motor manipulatives help students develop the language for letters, sequence for formation, and reversal-free writing.
2nd Grade
The second grade handwriting program is for students in the second grade and students working at that level who need a printing review. The focus is on smaller size printing in sentences and paragraphs.
3rd Grade
The third grade handwriting program is for third grade students and students working at that level. The program introduces a vertical style of cursive and emphasizes correct habits for forming and connecting letters. Fun manipulatives help students practice numerous skills including learning cursive connections, lowercase and capital skills, and spacing.
4th Grade
The 4th grade handwriting program is for fourth grade students and students working at that level. The program focuses on fluid letter formation and connections. It is designed to teach children to write cursive quickly and automatically in a smaller size.
5th - 8th Grade
The 5th-8th grade handwriting program is designed for fifth grade or older students. It provides cursive and printing instruction and is ideal for older students who are looking to master these skills.
Teens & Adults
The teen and adult program works on increasing the legibility of printing or cursive writing while relearning good handwriting habits. Instruction is individualized to meet the specific needs of the student. Click here for more information.
